Big Boy

My kid has personality to spare lately. And it's cracking me up.

Wy was sick a few days ago, just a summer cold I think, nothing big, but he was feeling icky enough to sleep with me for a couple nights. The night I knew he was feeling better was when he woke up to eat at 2am. This is not rare, he seems to be doing it a lot lately. But this particular night I was clearly not moving fast enough for him. I was laying on my side and he was irritated enough to sit up, while he was still mostly asleep, and cry louder in an effort to rouse me. When I still wasn't moving at a pace he deemed fast enough, he balled up his little fists and hit me right on the side. I was so shocked I jumped out of bed and went to make him a bottle. Lucky for him we haven't had the no hitting talk just yet.

Yesterday was the first day of my new 5 day a week work schedule. I dropped him off at the sitter's at 7:15am and was back at her house by 5:05pm to pick him up. I walked in and called hello just like always and saw him come crawling around the corner at the sound of my voice. That's really the first time I've seen him react to me showing up, normally he's in his pj's waiting with the sitter by the door for me to show up. So it was fun to see he was excited to see me! I scooped him up and was chatting with the sitter about his eating habits (which have been changing a lot the last few weeks) and he got fed up and was squirming trying to get me to put him down so he could go back off and play with the girls. Also a first. Finally we left the sitter's and for the first time Wyatt nearly threw a fit while I was putting him in his car seat! Obviously he was having fun and just didn't want to go home.

He is growing up so fast, it makes my head spin. Every day he looks more like a little boy and much less like a baby. He's exploring everything, finding new and interesting ways to get to areas of the apartment he's not normally allowed in. He went to his very first arena football game this past Saturday, which was interesting. He loved parts of it, but was really put on edge by all the noise. Upside, he loved spending time with Gramma and Grandpa! He spent the game crawling between our laps giving hugs and playing.

This morning while he was supposed to be taking a little nap, he was sitting in his crib talking to his animals. And I think sometimes he sings along with the songs on his TV shows...either that or he's yelling at them. :) It's hard to tell.

I'm so impressed with him every day. It feels like he is doing something new every time I look at him. But I love every second of it.
