Yesterday I decided to try giving Wyatt a little bit of rice cereal! He loved the stuff. :) This kid really will eat anything.
I decided to try it cause he meets a lot of the "requirements" for starting on solids...he can sit up with assistance, he has pretty good head control, he opens his mouth and leans towards his binky and a bottle, he's been reaching for things.
At first he was a little confused and made faces while moving the cereal around in his mouth with his tongue. But he decided he liked it and ate a few teaspoons worth. Later around dinner time I figured I could try giving him a little more and he had a very different reaction. He was opening his mouth when he saw the spoon, he was laughing and smiling, and he ate like 3-4 tablespoons of the stuff!
I'm so proud of my little boy! A little sad that he is growing up so fast, he's just about 3 months old already, but it's so exciting to watch him grow and learn. Every day he has more personality and is interacting more.
Yesterday was also the first day I put him in his jumparoo. In case you are unfamiliar with all the weird names for baby stuff, a jumparoo is just a swing seat attached to a frame with bungee like cords so the baby can use his feet on the floor to make himself bounce. There are some little toys attached to the front of the seat for him to play with too. Well Wy is finally big enough to sit and see over the edge of the seat and as I found out could actually get his feet on the ground at the same time. Yes, my kid is tall already.
Wy only lasted about 10 min in it, but while he was happy sitting there, he was bouncing and playing with the toys. He even managed to make one of the little toys spin like it's supposed to.
He has been reaching for things, working his fingers more, kicking his legs a ton, rubbing his eyes when he's sleepy, taking more real naps instead of just little cat naps, he's very busy all day now. :)
